Volunteer for Liberty 2
Front page of Abraham Lincoln Battalion newsletter “Volunteer for Liberty“.
Left “Anglo-American Section of Anti-fascist Club formed in Barcelona”. Right sadly very doubtful figures (I don’t actually know) on Republican and enemy air losses. February 1938, Barcelona.

American brigader Alvah Bessie at Darmós, Southern Catalonia, April 1938. In his right pocket is one of his field notebooks, later collected in his “Spanish Civil War Notebooks” Vivid, immediate descriptions which I really enjoyed ( and later the basis for his famous Men in Battle)
